Dot NAME Domain Names

Set up in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the only one intended for personal sites only. These domain names can be personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other labels people are known by. At first, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to buy john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already purchased 3rd-level domain names remained working.

You will have the opportunity to edit the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer authorization key from the present registrar firm and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no specific stipulations on who can obtain a dot NAME domain, but in order to maintain the objective behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
